Wicked!

Wicked is coming to Melbourne next year!!  My daughter will be extatic!  She knows I'm planning to see it when I'm in NYC in August and has been pea-green.  (Elphaba green even  ;~) )  I can't wait to tell her when she gets home; she will seriously squeeeee.   :~D

You'll just have to see it again with her. I know, twisting your arm there, huh? ;-)

Omygoodness! I'll be there (after Prophecy) from the 6th-10th. Any chance you'll be there at the same time?

Not sure exactly when I'll be there, since Geo and her family are working out larger summer plans. She and I are going to Martha's Vineyard together for a writers' workshop for four days. Before that, I'll be visiting her at her home for a couple of days, and we'll hit the city and visit Yanksfan and Sreya. After the conference I'll be doing some time with JadeSaber in upper New England - mainly Vermont and maybe Maine.

Hope we get a chance to meet up!

I hope we do too! And I'd love to meet Yanksfan and Sreya too! I shall post my itinerary as soon as it's finalised so I can do as many fandom meetups as I can! :~D

That's really cool. I never saw the play even though it was here in Detroit, but I read the book several years ago. I loved it.

Are you going anywhere besides Toronto or New York on your trip? I'd love a chance to meet you. Toronto is only a few hours away from here so an afternoon or evening may be possible if you have the time.

Were going LA - Vancouver - Toronto - NYC - Wilkes Barre - Orlando, Florida - then flying home from LA! We'll be away for nearly a MONTH. *boggles* I am going to miss my family SO much, and I don't know how they'll manage, but I guess they will! (There will be some serious learning happening! And I just hope to god all the animals are still alive by the time I get home!)

Wow, that sounds like a real adventure!

That is awesome! I finally got to see it in L.A. and it was amazing! I might even go see it in New York when I go in July!

That is so cool. I don’t get to see live theater much anymore. I think I over loaded Mason with it when I was in collage. I majored in Technical Theater. You know the sets and lighting and so forth. He came to all my shows back then. Now of course it coasts a small fortune to go to a show in this area.

I RARELY get to live theatre any more. It costs a fortune here. (good seats are at least $100ea) The last two I saw were Chess and Mumma Mia, and only because my mum bought hubby and I tickets as birthday presents! My kids have never been to a big professional stage show. :~( I really wanted to take them to the Lion King stage show, but it would have cost over $700 just for the tickets! (as a mother I'm sure you understand that the tickets are only the start of the spending! ;~P)

Tell me about it. First you have to buy new outfits to go to the fancy theater and then there is dinner out and of course you have to get some souvenirs for each of them. It never ends. The last show I saw was “The Phantom of the Opera” at the Kennedy Center years and years ago. My kids have never been to a professional stage performance either. They are lucky if they get to go to a movie every now and then. Even with that it generally means about $100.00 by the time you buy the dinner out before the movie, and spend a few minutes playing the arcade games, and then there is the popcorn and drinks that they have to have even though they just ate dinner and had a dessert. I do try to take them to the cheap movie place if I can. The seats there are only $3.00 each. You still pay through the nose for the popcorn and drinks, but it is better then paying $7 or $8 each on top of the popcorn. And we have to wait until the movie is not showing in the other theaters before they are showing them at this place.

I’m not looking forward to when they will start to want to go to concerts with their friends. And Chris will be 13 in a few weeks and he wants a cell phone. *shakes head* I don’t even pay for the one I have, my dad does. And my husband’s is paid for by his work. I don’t know if we are ready for him to have a phone of his own yet. He can’t even keep his room clean. I can just see him losing it in the first week.

Ah, bu that's the best part about a mobile phone - when you lose it (in the house or car or handbag) you can ring it to find it! I often wish I could ring my keys like I can ring my mobile! ;~P
And, yes, I'm afraid I've accepted it as the standard Yr7 accessory. ALL their friends have one. My 16yo son and 12yo daughter both have pre-paid phones - we bought them the phones and THEY have to pay for the usage. Currently they both have no credit, but I can at least ring them if necessary. ;~)

It costs us the best part of $100 for the whole family to go to the cinema. I really used to love going - it was my favourite past time - but I think I must be turning into a 'grumpy old lady' cos I get so irritated by everything there now! Specially the folks I have to share the experience with; slurping their drinks, talking etc etc. I just have no tolerance for it any more; I'd rather wait and watch most movies on DVD at home! Of course, there ARE exceptions like Harry Potter! ;~)
