Remember that sketch I did a while ago? The one for my own fic... Well, this is what I puddled in while I was away. And a closeup of Ron so you can see his stubble properly. :~) Done using Copic Markers with finishing touches done in Photoshop.
This picture means so much more to me having just read the fic that goes with it. I love the shading and lighting choices, especially the light reflecting off Ron's eyelashes. I also love the many colors in Ron's hair - it looks so real, as does his stubble. Hermione's fingers appear ink-stained, as you would expect for a scholar like her. It's brill!
Yeah! I read them allll through my bush season, picking up the 'next' every time we went to town. Order of the Phoenix is by far my favourite (including a soft spot for Luna).
I missed the movie (POA) during the theatre run though!!!!!! I was pretty psyched all bush season to see it on big screen - I'd only rented the other three.
Ah well...

*who is CERTAIN Revenge of the Sith will not be gone already by mid-August next year. CERTAIN! CERTAIN!*
Order of the Phoenix is my favourite too. I found Goblet of Fire riviting and was definately a fan by the time I finished it, but OotP turned me obsessive (as you know ;~P). Not sure why; perhaps it was the more adult tone? All the characters have such amazing depth to them.
Revenge of the Sith... I don't know... it seems to have been coming for AGES. There have been 2 Harry Potter films since AOTC. :~P
Very cool. You should look into selling prints of your work. It's really easy. using http://www.photoaccess.com you can order a bunch of prints and sell them online or in ebay. Okay. the capitalist will shut up now.
The problem with selling prints of fanart is that you run the risk of having Warner Bros come down all medieval on your arse. (because we all know how much what amounts to a cottage industry would eat into WBros profits! *rolls eyes*) It's my understanding though that they can't stop you selling the original painting. CG art which HAS to be printed... I don't know.
Holy cow copic marker 0.o ok in seriouse awe, becuase I would have guessed acylic. It looks painted (granted marker is a wet medium, but still) Can I ask what color you used to achive those skin tones? It looks like some form of blue of brown but I can't pplace a brown that is that subtle.
It looks so amazing. And, how on earth did you get Ron's hair so fine? Or was that part of the photoshop touch up? (Or is this picture much larger in real life?)
Skin colours - I always tend to stick with 'skin white' as the base colour, although with this pic I was working on cartridge paper (the original sketch in my visual diary), which carries the markers differently to the paper I usually work on. The 'skin white' came out much more orange on the cartridge paper I found and needed lots of toning down. 'Dull Ivory' is one of my favourites for darker skin shadows, and the bluish tones were a 'wash' of 'Pale Lavender' or 'Mauve Shadow'. Can't remember which. :~P Other colours used - 'Clay, Blush, Barely Beige, Buttercup Yellow', and 'Caramel' was what I used for Ron's hair. And of course my favourite marker, which is the Colourless Blender. As for the fineness of Ron's hair, it's mostly Copic. The only photoshopping in his hair was the highlights - the 'white' strands of hair. The pic was A5 (5.5"x8"). Hope that's a help? :~D
I stumbled across your work on hp_art_deck and absolutely had to check out your journal (your card illustration for Ron is just wonderful). Your art is absolutely amazing! The details in this are fantastic, and that you did it with markers completely astounds me, because I've not yet learned to handle them myself. Just...stunning work.
(I have friended you to keep an eye on your wonderful art. Just thought I'd introduce myself *s* Hi!)
That has to be the best picture of Ron-growing-up I've ever seen. The composite picture is wonderful, with their expressions, the shading, the background details, but Ron just rocks. *takes mental snapshot to save forever* Very very nice!
SOOOOO CUUUUUUUUTE!!!! I love love love the mildly pleased look on Ron's have, and Hermione's so gently curious and repressing her delight. Awwwww!!! Ron is such the hottie and oh, SO very Ron. Like, the perfect Weasley boy and why'd you have to draw him so realistically, cause now I'm developing, like, MAJOR crush on him. Major. Is he real? Can I commission you to make me a real Ron, just like this? Stubble and all? *hopefuly*
And darling Hermione! It's fantastic, that -- yay!! -- you made her look, you know, like Hermione. Not beautiful, but just normal and girlish and her bushy hair and her unperfect face and YES. Because Hermione isn't about the beautiful. I love that. And I love her to bits because she's so sweet! Her little layered shirt and sweater and the quirk of her eyebrows, which just *screams* affection and the browness of her warm eyes....*happy sigh*
This is, like, totally Ron/Hermione = meant to be.
And my GOD, woman, you are an amazing artist. The realism is pleasant and interactive and happy without being, based on the movie actors, or being, like. ugly. This is the opposite of ugly realism. This is the prettiest most exquisite realism, short of a photomanip.
I really have to investigate into these...copic markers thingies. They fascinate me.
Ron's slight smirk. And his sideburns, oh GUHHHHHHH, you've destroyed me, you have. so, you'll take my commission right? make him real??
The Markers - you'll love I think. I really enjoy working with them. But don't forget the colourless blender! That IMO is the most important one to get (not that you'll see it without the others). With it you can bleed colours together and lose that hard, tell-tale edge that markers have.
As for making a Ron... well, I've made 3 boys and that's enough for me! ;~P
Can I just say that I have been admiring your art at SQ for months. A bunch of us from the Werewolf Registry have been fangurlishly drooling every time you post something new. Your Weasley family portrait is just amazing. My personal favorite is Neville which is just spot on! Your portraits are so in character. No one looks like they stepped out of a Gap ad. The warm earth tones are really excelent. Hope you don't mind if I friend you.
I randomly stumbled upon this - I don't even know how, even though it was just a few minutes ago, and I must tell you that I adore this! Though I have no real knowledge of artwork, this is... I love the fact that you gave both of them imperfections. You have a very realistic style, which is extremely refreshing in the world of fanart.
This is definitely getting memorable-ised, so I can come back and stare and admire countless times!! =D
I saw your plug at CM and I have to say this picture is amazing! The coloring, the shading, the drawing, the character portrayal - everything is just beautiful!
I do think Hermione's hand is a bit off though. Otherwise the picture is gorgeous! :D
I swear, I could die a million times over from going through your work, because I just keep not breathing, which as you will know, is just not conducive to living.

I have such thing for facial hair, so... *sigh*
and the fact that it's Ron... *dies*
And his eyelashes?? oh, I could just faint.
Beautiful. I also particularly love the multi-colored lines and highlights in his hair.
Hermione's lovely, but for me this picture is all about Ron. *heart*
