Blessing on you for finding this!! My son has Sensory Integration Dysfunction, and my youngest girl has that and delays as well. We had them in twice weekly therapy, til we ran out of money. Our insurance will not reimburse us, and I'm trying to continue their therapy at home, and am homeschooling them until they can function in a traditional school environment again. I hope to have them both 'released back into the wild' this fall, but we'll keep on trucking. Thanks for posting this, and helping others find a face to put to the disease. Mel

Cool, thanks for posting! I'm putting it in my journal as well to help spread the word.

Conal's on the spectrum, and Elora's testing showed she has some signs as well.

mythicvictory, I'm schooling at home as well but through a cyber charter school called Connections Academy. Unfortunately this particular one isn't available in TX, but there are others. The great thing about them is that since they are considered public school, everything is free. They send you text books, workbooks, art and science materials, even a computer and printer for each student. I don't know if you've looked into or had experience with cyber schools, so if you have, ignore all that. LOL! If not, you might want to give it a look-see.

Thankyou SO much for posting this!!! I'm definetly adding this to my journal, my younger sister is 14 and is Autistic. She has Azbergers syndrome (I hope I spelled that right!), she's really smart, but has issues.... with people... She's not "high functioning' as some people with autisim are. She's in the same level of math and science as I am... and in nearly all honors classes (except for science, because they wouldn't let her get into that class because the school insisted that she'd mess up the labs... :-(!!!!) but she hates homework... a lot... Her way of thinking about homework is that homework is silly, because if she already knows everything, why should she was to "practice" like the other kids.... so.. homework is an issue...
My mom is currently fighting against the public school board and trying to make things better for her.. she has to go to hundreds of meetings with all of these "specialists" in special education, who argue with nearly everything she says. Since she is high functioning.. in a way... they refuse to pay as much attention to her as she needs, because other kids need help as well.
I'll continue talking about this in my journal.. as obviously, this is becoming a very long post...
thankyou for posting the video on here!!!!! <3 <3

Hi Leela,
I was interested in bidding on your TQP art auction so I was trolling around your journal taking in the scenery. I really love your work. It's wonderful. Anyway I saw this and I know Minnie had posted the link as well a few weeks back and I just wanted to say thank you. Most folks really have no clue when it comes to Autism and have no idea how the rates have skyrocketed the past ten years and how outrageously underfunded (per capita) it is. So thanks for posting the link (you have a really large F-list). I had posted about it last April and I'm glad to see that it's still getting attention.
