Is anyone else as freaked out by this as I am right now? I feel like I'm watching a movie or reading a Sci-Fi novel. WTF is going on??

I'm in shock and deeply saddened to hear the news of [personal profile] simons_flower  passing.  My heart goes out to her daugher, husband and family.

From [info]redblaze:

A community has been set up where everyone can go and share their thoughts, feelings, memories, pictures, etc, of Trisha. How you met her? How she touched your life? A favorite quote from her stories? Pictures, if you have them--They are all going to be used to set up a book for her family. Her daughter can have something lasting that will show her just how deeply loved her mother was. She had friends all over the world and that is something that is precious and everlasting.

Rob Guest died last night after a massive stroke!  He was only 57.    :~C

I have adored him since I saw him as Jean Valjean in Les Mis in 1990!  I saw him as the Phantom in Phantom of the Opera the year after, and again, just a few weeks ago, as the Wizard in Wicked.   But he will always be Jean Valjean for me.

Have to go listen to him sing Les Mis now.  *sob*

British-born science fiction author Arthur C Clarke has died in hospital in Sri Lanka at the age of 90.

Clarke had been in and out of hospital since his 90th birthday in December and had breathing difficulties, his aide Rohan de Silva said.

"Sir Arthur passed away a short while ago at the Apollo Hospital," Mr de Silva said.

Clarke, who foresaw communication satellites in 1945, wrote more than 80 books.

He was most famous for his novel 2001: A Space Odyssey, which was made in to a film by controversial director Stanley Kubrick.

Clarke was Sri Lanka's best-known resident guest and has a scientific academy named after him.

A very big thankyou to everyone who offered their thoughts and condolences on the death of my stepfather a two weeks ago. I printed off the pages and pages of wonderful words from all of you and gave it to my Mum, who was very moved. *hugs you all*

On a completely different note...

I won an award on the [livejournal.com profile] rhr_awards! For 'steamiest artist.' *snigger* What will that do for my reputation do you suppose? ;~P

Congratulations to everyone who won and was nominated!

Yay Me! )

My step father (Mum's husband of 26yrs) died last night following a sudden heart attack about 9pm at home. He was rushed to Hospital, and I took Mum over and he was awake and lucid for a bit but, due to complications, died at about 11.45.
Needless to say we are extremely sad.
