I decided to try and get some flying shots of my guys. Sadly my camera is made of fail; it doesn't actually take the photo when you press the button, but about 1.5secs after. So it was a case of take the photo and hope a bird flew past while the shutter was open! O.o

Sitting with my Buffy over breakfast this morning, and she realised she could see another bird (reflected in the plastic covering on my unopened canvas)! And not only that, a shadow of a bird! I thought it was too pretty to miss.

General vid of my birdies. Jump to 3:40 to hear Pippin talking. (with subtitles!!) XD
It's hard to catch him talking because every time he sees the camera he chases it! He loves seeing himself or one of the other birds in the screen on the back. So we were very lucky to catch this!

We've had our cockatiel, Spike, for almost a year now. He was roughly 6 weeks old when we got him, and not tame in any way. We already had 2 budgies when Spike joined the flock, Pippin and Luna. Luna was only a couple of months old at the time, and has been utterly bonded with Pippin since she first set eyes on him.
Spike has always been very fond of the budgies, but now it seems he is actually in love with Luna.
He follows her everywhere. He sings to her, bows to her, dances and hops around her, pretends to eat beside her. The minute she steps into view his wings open that little bit, so he looks like a more splendid bird!
It's amazing and amusing and quite tragic. Like some sort of Shakespearan play! He is utterly besotted, and she has eyes (understandably) only for Pippin!( a 'tiel in love with a budgie?! )

Yes, our new birdie is with us! And she is completely and utterly adorable! My daughter turned 14 on Sunday, and this pretty baby was her birthday present. She is a pretty cinnamon colour and, while we'd planned to call this new 'tiel Cardinal Biggles, the breeder we got her from thinks she may be a girl, and Biggles just wouldn't be right. So youngest son suggested the bleeding obvious, and her name is now Buffy!
