That was hilarious! That is so awesome. Do budgies learn just by hearing the same things repeated? This is amazing and just blew my mind.
My 4 year old daughter just made me play it 3 times in a row and she is now saying "MY LITTLE PEEPIN!" over and over and laughing. Of course now she wants a bird like "PEEPIN" for Christmas. HA! Oh now she wants to see it again hahahahah.
I know! It amazes us when he rearranges words to make up sentences that actually mean something! eg: we always talked to him about 'your Luna, Pippin's Luna' etc. and he turned it around and calls her 'MY Luna'. O.o Actually his full phrase is 'my beautiful darling Luna', (which we did not teach him) which he abreviates to "my beaw dar Loo." XD
I'm so glad you and your daughter enjoyed it so much! We love him to bits of course!
And, yes, it's just repetition. He surprises us what he pics up sometimes. I sometimes call Evie, my daughter's quaker parrot, our little blue dinosaur - cos she makes the cutest little dinosaur noises and would 'eat' the budgies given half a chance. ;~P And now Pippin says dinosaur!
heehee! He's doing okay..I think he' slowly warming up to me. I have him eating millet out of my hands and he has recently obliged to climb onto my shoulder and walk around with me. Still a bit of a nipper though, he's also developed a nasty habit of dive bombing our dogs whenever he sees them. I was recently informed that Parrotlets are considered the "pitbulls" of the parrot world..I can see how they get that reputation..lol!
it would be amazing if he could pick up words like your lil pippin!! I would just die of adorableness!! XD
So cool! I was just about to ask how much he manages to put into context. I've never been around a talking bird, so I'm always amazed by your budgie videos. *grin*
It's almost spooky how much he says in context. First time I noticed it was when I happened to be making a salad for dinner, and his cage was nearby, and he looked very pointedly and excitedly at the greens and said "Yummy!" So I held some up to him and got a "YUMMY! YUMMY!"
Now he says something in context almost daily. Like he'll be sitting on my hand or shoulder, quietly chattering, tilt his head to watch Luna nearby, and say, "Look at Luna."
But there's nothing more heartmelting than hearing him say "I love you!" with feeling and know he means exactly what he said.

Have you done any art work of your birds?
Thanks for adding some joy to my morning.
