So, the computer desk is CLEAR, and I'm ready to start unpacking teh new computer. But I've discovered that the current power points are already overloaded... o.O So now I'm going to wait till hubby gets home from his mother's to discuss a new plan of action.
Anyway, while I was cleaning I started wondering - considering how much has been cut out of 'OotP the movie,' do you think Ron and Hermione's storyline will make it into the HBP movie?

If it's anything like GoF, anything that fits with the after-school special teen romance plot will probably make it to the movie.:P

Unless the director feels like I do about after-school special style teen romance. Then it'll be solidly focused on the Tom Riddle and Dumbledore storylines. lol.

I answered "No" to both, mostly because it seems like ANYTHING to do with Ron's development gets cut from the films. Poor Ron. :~(

Ron's character has already gotten the short end of the stick in every movie, so they'd better include this!

If we have Alfonso Cuaron, yes. If we have Chris Columbus, not sure. I think it depends on the director we have. I'm interested, also, in seeing how the screenplay writer handled things in OotP, since it was not Steve Kloves this time. It all depends who is doing the writing and directing - so anything could happen!

Now, if it was me, I'd put it in. Most assuredly.

I'm not sure if they'll actually bother filming anything between Ron and Lavender, but I totally think they'll mention something to give Hermione a chance to go all angsty. The movie people love Emma Watson and are bound to do anything they can to give her as much screen time as possible.

Aaaactually, they may just drop the whole Lavender thing altogether and have Hermione get pissed at Ron for being a condescending misogynist (eg: offering to take it easy on her during the DA meetings).

My true answer is that I don't know and I don't care. Books are important to me. :) Besides the less I think about what should and shouldn't be in the movie the more I like it. No disappointments.

While I really don't want to see Won-Won and Lav-Lav writhing on the floor like a couple of eels, I do think Ron's relationship with her is a big growth point for him, and Hermione's jealosy is interspersed throughout so much of the book, I can't imagine how they'd leave it out.

Of course, with their ability to change major details (I'm really hoping they'll fix what's written on Harry's hand like they did with Tom Riddle's tombstone) like they're insignifican't, who knows what they'll cut? They might even cut Harry/Ginny from the movie! Although there may be widespread theater damage if they cut that scene/relationship out, lol.

Have fun with the new computer!

Well seeing as how they had the tension in the third and even fourth movie, I'm sure they'll be sure to put it in

From: [identity profile] velleitas.livejournal.com

I think that it will be in, but maybe played down a bit... it'll be in enough for Hermione to get jealous. We had Ron do it in GoF, so they'll probably have Hermione to counter and lead for #7.

Well, considering the abysmal job they did of showing what was supposed to happen in GOF at the Yule ball, I really can't tell. "Off to bed now, both of you!" I've never seen anything so ridiculous. She was suddenly crying and screaming for no apparent reason, and as much as I like Emma I have to say that her acting was so horrible there... Anyway, the logical part of me says that all the lavlav stuff is too crucial to the plot to leave out but after they chopped up GOF to basically resemble highlighted scenes from the book, I can tell continuity is not something they're too concerned with...

I think it depends on the director really - but I still think that even if they include it - it'll be very much part of a subplot, as in we'll just see Hermione stomping past Ron and Lavender - all in the background of Harry being contemplative about Voldemort...:3 Still, Ron hasn't had as much to do in the movies as Hermione and Harry have - so maybe they'll give him a bit more screen time? But it would be pretty easy to cut out all the same...if they decided to focus mainly on Harry. Ginny and Harry will definently make it in though - they'll probably make it the highlight of the film ^_^

I can't even believe someone voted for the Harry/Ginny bit, lol.

Considering that Ron's few little moments have been sliced from the script, a part of me is afraid that they will take it out. But after seeing GoF and how they filled it with teen angst (which is good, because that's what they do) but taking out very important things (i.e. what happened to Barty Crouch Jr., how did the minister react to Voldemort returning?), it wouldn't surprise me if they just took out the whole Dumbledore falling and change that to Hermione having a mud fight with Lavender... this is, if Steve Kloves has written the script.

I think they will downplay it and cut the relationship development in half. This is all supposed to be from Harry's point of view, and from what I've seen so far, most of the Ron/Hermione parts have been cut anyhow. I wouldn't be surprised if everything is just mentioned in passing. Something like Harry and Ron talking about Lavender; or Lavender and Parvati talking about Ron, and Hermione overhearing it.

Here from the Snitch!

I know they tend to cut out character development that isn't Harry, BUT - the movies started inserting bits of R/Hr buildup in the second movie already. They did more in the third movie. They may not have done the Yule Ball that well, but they did it. They are clearly building up to it, and Kloves is even coming back for movie six so he knows what they've been leading to. And plus, if you cut that whole subplot, neither Ron nor Hermione would have a thing to do all movie until the Death Eaters show up! ;) It's a Harry & Dumbledore, Voldemort, Snape and Draco story, but they need to have scenes for their other two young stars - if they weren't already there they would have had to create them, IMO, to keep Rupert and Emma on the screen.

So putting it all together, I think there's no way they're suddenly going to drop the ball on that relationship for movie six, and that means doing the R/L thing.

Plus, JKR said in the TLC/MN interview that when she was working on the Won-Won/Lav-Lav bits, she kind of pictured Rupert attending the casting for Lavender. Sounds like a command from on high to me!

Of the Weasley kids, only Bill seems to be in a lasting relationship, and that's just now taking shape in Year Six. Ron won't settle down so soon; Lav is all wrong for him, and this whole Ron/Hermione affair is just a summer thing. :>)

From: [identity profile] emeraldstag.livejournal.com

I'd hope for it to be in the movie, because thinking back isn't that really most of what happens to Ron and Hermione in HBP. Other than McLaggen and Ron getting poisoned, not to mention the love potion.

HBP was much more about relationships, so it works so well with Harry finally noticing Ginny. Ron and Hermione show the other way of going about things. LOL. We'll all know once we see if they actually cast someone as Lavender for the next one.

It would depend on which director/screenwriter. The films are very different from the books. I have a friend who has seen the films, never read the books. She has no idea who Ginny is, thinks Harry and Hermione are a couple and Ron is the village idiot. Oh she also thinks the new role of Luna will be Ron's girlfriend.

Hihi I don't know if you remember me, I commented on another person's journal to tell you how much I love your Harrison icons. I know the Christmas hat one/regular Harrison icon says do not take, but is there any way you could possibly let me? They are the most amazing ones ever...

Hi! I'm really flattered that you like it so much but, I'm sorry, there's a few of my icons that I'm particularly fond of, and that's one of them. I painted it myself.
I wouldn't mind if you were planning to use it somewhere other than Live Journal though. TheForce.net or SW.com for example. I'm not really active on those boards anymore, so it wouldn't bother me if someone was using my icons there. I would like to be credited though. ;~)

From: [identity profile] bellelvsbeast.livejournal.com

Ah ok...I will just admire them, since I don't really go on boards...:)
I totally understand you would love them so much, I'm sure you put a lot of effort into them.
I hope you continue with the awesome work! Maybe someday you will make another awesome painted Harrison icon and I can use it...:)
