My Muse snuck up on me while I was sitting in the car waiting to pick up my son from Cadets at 10pm this evening! Resulting in this completely stream of consciousness sketch which pretty much drew itself. (the best kind!) I actually went armed to write - plot bunnies dancing round my head - but sat there with my journal open and pen ready, waiting for the words to flow for about 5mins, then closed it all, got out the visual diary I have with me at all times and away we went!

I'm really quite thrilled cos I was SO lagging behind all my fellow artists here on lj for getting some HBP art done. :~)

Crying in the bathroom...

I want to colour it now... but I have so much other work to do first! *whines*

ETA: In the bright light of day I realised how much this looks like [livejournal.com profile] __hibiscus's art of the same scene! And am really disappointed with myself/myMuse. I understand that with such tight scenes, concept art is bound to overlap but, nevertheless the 'remix' was unintentional. :~\

Can you explain why so many artists find this to be a scene they want to illustrate? I think this is the 3rd or 4th version I've seen. Not that that's bad, I just didn't think of it as a great scene in the book.

It's certainly not the first scene I'd planned to illustrate but, like I said, this one drew itself while I was sitting in the car waiting for my son. The scene I would like to do is the one with Malfoy and Harry on the train. Still mulling over the most effective perspective on that one.

I think the reason people are drawing this is taht this scene shows us a different perspective on Draco. He's lonley, he's human and he's scared. He's also allowing himself to be comforted by Myrtle, which is amazing in itself LOL. Who would a thunkit?

Great job, Leela!

You will do the funeral scene with the Ron/Hermione comfort, will you not? Pretty Please??? :D

I love Draco's eyes in this. They look so haunted. And very neat way to depict Myrtle when only using one medium.

Excellent! I love the depth.

I think this scene stands out to people because it's the first time we see Draco as something more than a 2-D villian--and that fact smacks Harry in the face, too. I'm not a Draco Grrrrl, but this book is the first time I've really felt for him as a person (well, as a character, anyway). I don't think seeing him cry made him weak--I think it made him HUMAN. I was irked when his first reaction at seeing Harry was to attack with an Unforgivable Curse (which reinforced he IS bad), but then was tugged at the heart again to see him dying on the floor a moment later. J.K.R. totally manipulated me through that whole part--but in a good way!

I'm not a Draco grrrl either (evidenced by the lack of illos of him from me) but I loved the growth in his character in this book. And I found Harry's obession with him really amusing.
I've been planning to illo the scene with him and Harry on the train, so finding myself drawing this sort of caught me by surprise.

Wow, I liked Draco eyes - so expressive! I liked Harry too, surprised and confused at seeing Draco like these. Great job!

This is a wonderful depiction of one of my favorite HBP scenes. I love how expressive Draco's face is.

Oh yeah! We all know how much Myrtle loves to spy on boys in the Prefect bathroom. Heh. ;~D

Myrtle is the best. Like I would so do that if I was a ghost. I would also do that with that cloak..thatd be better because I wouldnt be dead.

Beautifully visualized for a spur of the moment sketch, and I have to agree that the reason it's so popular is for the varying emotions, and the glimpse of a different Draco than the one we usually see in canon.

Neat scene. I love the presense of Myrtle here... well done. And Draco reminds me of a younger movie!Lupin. : )
