Hello! I'm home! :~) The beach was nice. A little cold and wet at the start, but that was ok. And every morning I woke up to the Willie Wag-Tails (wee birds) singing and dancing their little hearts out. We took lots of DVDs and I managed to watch the entire series of Firefly! 10yo daughter (ALMOST 11) harped for the entire week, wanting to watch Sin City, which hubby and 14yo son watched late one evening. I did not relent. *smug*
We went to the cinema and saw Willy Wonka, which was nicely enjoyable, but we missed the very start (thanks to a bankup at the candybar) so I don't know if they ran the Potter trailer before it or not. We also saw Sky High which was mindlessly enjoyable. ;~P

First night down there I just couldn't sleep. I finally gave up at 5am, sat up and started sketching...
I have several pics that I agreed to do for the mugglenet cards; finished James a little while ago and have a nice Molly&Arthur sketched, but I still had Draco and Ron hanging over my head. So I sat up and gave Draco a whirl! And was really pleased at how well he came out! (IMO!) He looks exactly like the Draco I saw in my head for HBP! The one who jumped on Harry's face. All smug and superior. :~D

Ron didn't come as easy, and I wasn't quite as happy with this sketch. His eyes were too close together and I wanted him to look open and friendly, but not sappy. I was also aware of needing to make his expression very different to all the other cards I've done.

Nevertheless, I was able to change those things and, over the rest of the week, I got both pics all but finished in Copics! Which I was very happy about. Both were done for the mugglenet cards, so I can't really show them, but as they're hardcopy art I've decided I'm going to sell them, so stay tuned if you're interested. (I'm also planning to add stuff in Photoshop to the card versions, so they won't be exactly the same.)
The amusing thing is that once I'd drawn both sketches, I was able to sleep! Still, some nice work between 5 and 6am. ;~P

Did I mention we got the Harry Potter Scene it game in time for my son's birthday? That was a LOT of fun. Seriously. And unlike Star Wars trivial pursuit, which no one will play with me cos I have the bad habit of winning the game before anyone else gets a turn, my kids know almost as much about HP as I do! And, as the questions were all movie related rather than from the books, it particularly suited the son I bought it for (who can't read the books) and he won as often as the rest of us! He was especially good on the sound questions - where you have to pick a character by listening to a bit of dialogue. He watches the films so often that he knows the dialogue backwards and would name the characters almost immediately. :~D Although we were all a little disappointed that there appeared to be no GoF clips, several times we all ended up in tears from laughing so hard, so the game was a huge success. :~)

No one in my family will play the Star Wars Trivial Pursuit with me, either! Scene it sounds fun, as does the family trip to the beach!
