Ron and Draco art

Remember the sketches I drew at 5am on my first night at the beach? Well here are the finished paintings...












Both of these were done for the Wizard Cards at MuggleNet Interactive. Normally I would not be posting them online but, as you might have guessed, I've cropped them quite dramatically here (both pics have portrait orientation,) plus I have also made additions to both images in Photoshop for the cards themselves, so what you see here is not what the finished cards look like. Nevertheless, this way you can see the faces nicely.
Both paintings were rendered with Copic Markers, pastels and gouache on quality, smooth Watercolour paper, and both are for sale.
Each painting has been properly mounted for framing already - Ron has a maroon mount, Draco's is bottle-green. The art is 10"x8", with the mount 11"x14".

I didn't use any reference for either of them, so the Prince Harry thing is interesting. (actually, I'm kind of relieved - I was worried someone would say he looked like Harrison Ford, who folks seem to see in most of my pics! ;~P) I couldn't sleep on our first night down at the beach, gave up trying to sleep at 5am and sat up and sketched both of them! I was particularly excited with Draco's sketch and I'm pleased with how they turned out. :~)

That's what really excited me when I drew the sketch of Draco - that he was exactly how I saw him in book 6! It wasn't Tom Felton, it was Draco!

I particularly like Ron. Often he's shown to cute or to dorky, but I think you have caught my idea of canon Ron perfectly.
The background and his hair is beautifully painted, one can feel the wind.
The colouring is exquisite, soft, natural.

Wow! Your Ron is wonderful!!! I love what you did with his hair -- the movement seems so natural!. And my kudos to you for working with pastels and gouache, particularly pastels. To me they are one of the hardest medias ever (along with oil).

And I like that Draco seems sort of amused at the expense of somebody else's misforturne. :(

Thanks! I'm glad you liked them. :~) Actually, I found pastels and copics a really interesting combination. (discovered by accident when I realised that a pastel picture I was working on had to survive international shipping. So I decided to try using them as a form of fixitive cos, as you probably know, fixitive and Copics do NOT like each other! ;~P) The copics smudge the pastel a little, but that can be used for blending, and they also seal the pastel. No smudging! No pastel dust. Lovely glowy pastel colours. :~D
