Surprising but happy news! My son's iPod did a Lazarus this morning! Rose from the dead with, what's even MORE amazing - all his music intact. We left it untouched for 24hrs to give it one final chance before contacting Apple and, whether it was the threat of going back to meet its Maker or what, I don't know, but it's working now. (touchwood!)

(tentative) YAY!

they do that sometimes, freeze and you can't affect them at all. What I do is just not recharge them; when the battery dies, it flushes out the locked up programing and enables a restart.

you should start writing "the saga of the ipod" and leave it in the self-help section. i'm seeing some serious metaphors here...

I just got my 30GB iPod less than amonth ago and i already have to go into the genius bar to tell them it's freezing all the time and the sound doesn't come out sometimes. I just want them to give me a new one which they probably will do, but it is still a hastle for something i JUST bought. this is my second iPod that i've had problems with.

Glad to hear your ipod worries are slightly lessened! You probably know this, but in case youdon't, if you have an ipod freeze, you can usually fix the thing by holding down the middle button and the play button for at least 6 seconds. You don't lose your data, it's basically like pushing the reset button. Just FYI.

Yeah, thanks, but we know about that trick. ;~) The only time it made any difference was when I tried it on iPod#2, and then it instigated the unhappy iPod face. Which, according to the iPod help site, meant it needed to go to the repair man. :~\

Nah, that's usually the first thing everybody tries, but in my case it didn't work, either. It really just needed to sit a few days.

I'm telling yah, for some whacky reason they just need to sit unused for a while when they go out like that. My previous one, the Mini, has done it twice that I know of.

That's happened with my sister's Mini, but mine's yet to have a problem. We have twin Minis but she uses a PC and I use a Mac to charge them. I don't know if that makes a difference. But when she lets it sit for a while, it suddenly revives and works fine. I've only had to manually restart mine once. Sorry to hear you're having so many problems with the iPods. *huggles you*

Hi Linda and welcome! I don't automatically friend back, but please don't take this personally. All my art posts art public and it's only boring posts about my family that are locked. ;~)
