This painting was done for the gallery of Sleeping Wizards that's planned at Prophecy.  (I'm not entering the competition btw)

I've been working on this one a lot longer than I should have, and really hope it's come out looking like Jo!  I've been looking at it/her for too long now, and can't tell.  :~P  And I spent a ridiculous amount of time on the necklace!  *cough*a day*cough*  I tried medieval, I tried Tudor (ducks [personal profile] shocolate ).  [profile] spoonjosh , I know we talked about giving her LOTR style jewellery, but it just didn't work.  So I ended up just going with something simple, which I'm not entirely happy with, but it was the only thing that went with the rest of the painting.  :~\

Hope you all enjoy it, anyway.  ;~)

27 days till I fly to the USA!!! *screams*

Very nice. And, yes, it does look like Jo. At first I wasn't sure if it was supposed to, then I read what you wrote.

Since it's nearly five and I'm getting completely stupid, I'm going to bed now.

Beautiful painting, though.

*loves that you thought of me*

Ah, the Tudors were just a bastard branch of the Plantagenets - I can cope with the fashion!

I grew up watching Keith Michell playing Henry VIII and Glenda Jackson playing Elizabeth R, so I'm afraid I have quite a bit of love for the Tudors. This could well be misplaced. ;~P But I have to say I do rather adore Tudor fashion, (not Elizabethan though. Those neck-ruffles were ridiculous!) and I've had a 'thing' for Anne Boleyn for as long as I can remember! ;~P

Oh, you and me both! I practiced writing Elizabeth's signature, from the opening of the Elizabeth R show, and to this day my own signature still looks a bit like hers (my name is Elizabeth, btw).

I hadn't noticed before: where are you going here in the US?

That's what I initially thought when I saw it, I was like, "Hey... that looks like Jo" and then read your thing and was like, oh. :}

This is really fantastic! And it totally looks like Jo!

I *immediately* thought of Jo, looking at this, so I'd say you succeeded!! It's gorgeous, honey. And I'd say if you wanted to enter it, you'd have a damned good shot at winning!!!

Ohh, it's beautiful. Looks just like JKR. Exquisite.
(I'm a real fan or your art, BTW.)

Very beautiful and very Jo-like.

AMAZING, really....

From: [identity profile] vejgurl.livejournal.com

Wow. Yes, that looks very much like JKR. I scrolled by fast and thought "Oh! JKR's done another photo shoot thingy," so I came back to see...and she obviously hasn't. VERY nice!

Oh, lovely!

I've been working on this one a lot longer than I should have, and really hope it's come out looking like Jo!

I immediately knew it was her. This is wonderful.

From: [identity profile] slytherinfiend.livejournal.com

Oh yes that looks like her! The larger version is more obvious too. You say you spent an entire day on her necklace? May I ask you what your art piece dimensions are in PS? Was it very large to work with since you're printing it?

The painting is A3 (11.7" × 16.5"), so yeah, it's pretty big. It would get to 300+meg and I'd have to condense the layers! Then it would get big again...and so on. :~P The necklace she's wearing now didn't take me a day to do (that took me maybe 10 mins!); it was all the trial efforts before this finished one that took so long. There was a Tudor-y looking one that had loads of pearls, and an intricate LOTR style one that I really liked cos I was able to work in snakes and gems for the house colours, but they just didn't match the rest of the painting.

I'm happy to hear you think it looks like her!! :~)

From: [identity profile] slytherinfiend.livejournal.com

omg, 300 MB *and* you had to condense the layers? You must have a good computer. I think mine slows down past 125MB so I never draw for print unfortunately! But wow, that's a lot of work I assume.

Oh, you should post the necklaces you drew so we can all see :)

Your art continues to amaze me! This is just beautiful. I especially like the tapestry background, very early-15th.century, like one of the Unicorn tapestries.

Any particular reason why you're NOT entering it in the competition? It's obviously above "worthy".

Neil should offer you serious money for that and give it to Jo for her birthday!

It's lovely! My first thought, no kidding, was of Jo, so well done!

I like the necklace, and the fact that it's simple means it doesn't draw attention away from the face, which is what you seemed to want people to notice.

From: [identity profile] willow-diamond.livejournal.com

holy crap, that's incredible. It really looks like Jo, don't worry!

You should send that to her (maybe not the original but you know what I mean).

It definitely looks like her. I clicked on a link from [livejournal.com profile] hp_art_daily without even looking at the details to see who the subject was, and I recognised her immediately.

I love it, especially the quill and the way the chain of her necklace falls on her collarbone.

Wow, it looks just like Jo!
You art is very, very beautiful!

From: [identity profile] tripperfunster.livejournal.com

Very nice! It's a very flattering shot of her, and I really like your use of light. The highlights on her skin are beautiful.

From: [identity profile] ronhermione33.livejournal.com

Just gorgeous, Leela! And it absolutely looks like Jo - you so did her justice. I hope someday she will be able to see it! Your work is so beautiful!

Can't wait to see you at Prophecy!

RON & HERMIONE, ALWAYS!

From: [identity profile] amanuensis1.livejournal.com

Ah! She's beautiful! Utterly goddess-like, and how appropriately so!

From: [identity profile] preppypoet02.livejournal.com

I am always amazed at how accurate you can get even the simplest of details (I'm thinking the contours of her neck and the light on her hair). Brilliant and I am POSITIVE Jo would be pleased. *hugs*
