Wednesday morning, I was woken at about 5.30am by the Dawn Chorus. I heard the rainbows launch from their nightly roost and fly over our house in one giant, joyous flock. Then, just before they were out of earshot, the flock turned and swung back over the other side of our house.  They do this morning and night, and it fills me with so much happy hearing and seeing this! I can't tell you how lucky I feel. :~)

I thought some of you might enjoy this. I'm sharing it more for the sound than the visual, though you do see the odd lorikeet from time to time.

There is a tree on our back boundry (it's actually our neighbour's tree, but on our fenceline) that the local wild lorikeets have deemed the perfect night spot.
Every evening the tree thrums with birds as they squabble over the best perch for the night, and every morning I get to wake to the sound of them rising. I love it, and feel very privileged to live where I do.

This evening my daughter threw out the scrap/stale bread for the birds, which we do every day. We have a family of magpies who will take meat out of our hands, and for a while there we had 2 wild ducks visiting every evening. Tonight we had Rainbow Lorikeets! )
